The National Boxing Hall of Fame is inducting its Class of 2023 on April 23rd, 2023 at The Quiet Cannon Crystal Ballroom in Montebello, California. We’re pleased to announce that their award for “Best Documentary of the Year” is being given to 18TH & GRAND: THE OLYMPIC AUDITORIUM STORY. Director Stephen DeBro will be on hand at the Hall of Fame ceremony to accept the award.

18th & Grand: The Olympic Auditorium Story tells the story of L.A.’s historic fight palace through the story of Aileen Eaton, the impresaria who managed the mayhem for nearly four decades. Using the voices of fighters, wrestlers, musicians and insiders, including Lupe Pintor, Julio César Chávez, Carlos Palomino, Jimmy Lennon Jr. and Don Chargin, among many others, the film reveals how the Olympic was part of the fabric of the city and connects it to the social movements of its time.

“I’m thrilled that the boxing community and the National Boxing Hall of Fame have recognized this film, and honored to be part of a class that includes so many boxers who battled in the ring at the Olympic.” Boxers being inducted in the Class of ‘23 who fought at the Olympic include Hector “Macho” Camacho, Roberto Duran, Art Frias (undefeated in 21 bouts at the Olympic) Luis “Yori Boy” Campas, Gabriel Ruelas, Jeff “The Tasmanian Devil” Bumpus and Bridgett “Baby Doll” Riley.
